Prof. Dr. Sigrid Metz-Göckel, one of the first female professors at TU Dortmund University and a pioneer of women's and gender studies as well as founder of the Aufmüpfige Frauen foundation, passed away on February 11, 2025.

Sigrid Metz-Göckel was one of the first female professors at the new University of Dortmund and played a key role in shaping the academic landscape by founding the Center for University Didactics. She consistently worked to improve the situation of female academics, pushed for the creation of the first state equality law in NRW and helped shape women's and gender studies nationwide. She carried her visions and her understanding of equal rights into the establishment of the Stiftung Aufmüpfige Frauen.
