Background - From data theft to climate change to knowledge shows: Even in times of "media crisis", formats around the topics of science, nature, technology and medicine are booming. Reporting on research topics is popular and often politically relevant. But the view of „Science "or" knowledge journalism“ is by no means uniform in the editorial offices. What are the trends, the tasks and the limits of the department? And what does it really look like, the relationship between researchers and journalists?
Concept- Using the example of their editorial office and other fields of work, the speakers provide insights into the practice of various media. The students of the Institute thus learn everything about possible professional fields, academics and students from other departments gain a basic understanding of how to deal with journalists - and perhaps ideas for teaching and presenting their research to the public. The speakers, in turn, get ideas for their journalistic work from the discussion.
The lecturers - are renowned science journalists and experts from press offices and science communication.
Audience - The event is open to all students and teachers at the Universities of Bochum and Dortmund, especially also in the Studium fundamentale of the natural science and technology
