Guest lecture by Saba Nur Cheema and Meron Mendel followed by a discussion Wednesday, December 4, 2025, 18:15 - 19:45, Lecture Hall 1, Emil-Figge-Straße 50, 44227 Dortmund, Germany

The event deals with the question of how schools and universities can be designed as places where different experiences, narratives and attitudes can be brought into conversation and their controversial nature can be related and reflected upon. In the context of debates on the culture of remembrance, the focus is particularly on how anti-Semitism, racism and discrimination can be discussed without simplifying conflicts or ignoring perspectives.

Saba-Nur Cheema is a political scientist, publicist and anti-racism trainer. Meron Mendel is Director of the Anne Frank Educational Center in Frankfurt am Main and Professor of Social Work at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. Both publish regularly on social debates about the culture of remembrance, diversity and freedom of expression. Together they have written the essay collection "Muslim-Jewish Supper", which is based on their column of the same name for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, in which they discuss controversial issues surrounding Muslim-Jewish ways of life.
