Franziska Saxler studied psychology and works as a researcher, author and podcaster. As part of her doctorate, she is investigating the mechanisms of sexual harassment in the workplace and conducting intercultural gender research. In 2024, she published her first book, which deals with speaking and remaining silent about sexualized violence.

Dear members of the university,

The event is part of the event series "UA Ruhr Annual Program 2025 Antidiscrimination". No registration is required.

All members of TU Dortmund University, University of Duisburg-Essen and Ruhr-Universität Bochum are invited.

In her reading, Franziska Saxler provides insights into her book, which combines scientific findings with personal perspectives. It deals with abuse of power, structural silence - and the question of how we can better protect those affected.

During the subsequent discussion, there will be the opportunity to ask questions via Q&A (anonymously).

What happens when experiences of sexualized violence are not taken seriously?

When institutions look the other way - or even protect harassers instead of informing them?
