Workshop teaches employees strategies for recognizing unconscious prejudices in the work and scientific context and consciously counteracting them. The registration deadline is June 17th.

The conscious and transparent handling of unconscious biases (unconscious prejudices or assumptions) is a central competence for creating a trusting and resilient environment in your team or organizational unit.

The workshop invites all employees to learn more about unconscious biases:

Aim of the workshop

  • Knowledge of common unconscious or implicit biases and their effects in different areas of the scientific context
  • Sensitization for own biases and their effects in the work context
  • Strategies for minimizing biases in one's own work context, such as in selection and evaluation processes, in the team or in teaching (focus will be asked in advance)

Contents

  • Introduction to the topic of unconscious biases and their mechanisms of action: What are biases? What effects do they have?
  • Reflection on own positioning and framework for action: Which biases may be more pronounced in me than others? What opportunities are there to recognize them?
  • Strategies to counteract biases : What options are there to prevent biases , address them and make them transparent?
  • Analysis of case studies
  • Methods for conscious decision-making
  • Practice-oriented exercises and interactive reflection

In interactive exercises and case analyses, methods suitable for everyday use are taught to "outsmart" biases. Structural changes to prevent unconscious biases can also be reflected on and discussed.
