Strengthening diversity in research - Presentation of the new funding program for doctoral students with disabilities

Dear university members,

Scientists with disabilities are severely underrepresented in the German academic system. Various barriers to entry into academia play a particular role for those interested in pursuing a doctorate with a disability/chronic illness. In order to overcome these particular access barriers and to strengthen the continuous visibility of the topics of diversity and inclusion in science, the Rectorate of TU Dortmund University decided in summer 2025 to implement a new university-wide funding program that can financially support the targeted recruitment of qualified doctoral candidates with disabilities.

In the half-hour online information event, Nadine Finke-Micheel (CFV staff unit) will present the new funding program and the necessary application requirements. Andrea Hellbusch will also present the (peer) support options offered by DoBuS.

We look forward to the exchange and your questions!
