Event with pupils from a grammar school

The Kunstsammlung NRW (Art collection NRW) (K20) with its important collection for the study of art and art history offers many opportunities to deal with remarkable works (and the exhibition of the same) in depth. Every student should visit it (several times) during their studies. Important works of painting and sculpture in the Düsseldorf collection allow direct viewing and research of original works, access to the context and history of the works and the possibility of "intellectual networking" between the different areas. At best, this leads to a deeper understanding of the history of art and culture since the beginning of the 20th century, but also to the realisation of the necessity of communicating these works.

But what does "museum think tank" mean? Why create a space within a space? Is it possible to learn tools of the trade that can be used to create something new in such an imaginary workshop? What products are possible and how is the product of the workshop then offered? Building on the experiences of previous semesters, a project is being continued here and at the same time newly developed in terms of content, which brings together students of art at the TU Dortmund with the Kunstsammlung NRW and in particular with pupils in grade 11 of a grammar school. In the course of the semester, we will work on the above-mentioned aspects using selected works, conceive mediation, and incorporate everything into a thematic guided tour for small groups of pupils conducted by you as Ciceroni.
