Dear members of the university,
the Staff Unit Equal Opportunites, Family, and Diversity has compiled a list of events that take place on our campus and deal with various aspects of diversity. These include, for example, lectures, discussion groups and courses that deal with topics such as gender diversity, anti-discrimination, inclusion and accessibility.
Most of the events in Diversity Month are not one-off special dates - on the contrary: the majority of the events are formats that are already established at TU Dortmund University and are held regularly.
On Diversity Day on May 19 in particular, events will be held for all status groups:
Intersectionality In Higher Education
Workshop for teaching staff
May 19 12:15 - 1:45 pm

The workshop presents innovative teaching methods for teaching intersectionality in higher education. As part of a method training, participants will develop approaches to integrate intersectional perspectives into teaching methods, learning objectives and teaching materials. The aim is to support teachers in designing more inclusive learning environments and reflecting on issues of power, privilege and diversity in teaching.
The workshop will be held in English. No registration is required.

DiveHack Diversity

Hackathon for students
May 19 2-5pm & 20.05. 9am-4pm
During a 24-hour hackathon, organizational representatives pitch real diversity problems for which teams of students develop innovative solutions. The solution concepts will be presented and discussed in a panel discussion, where students can receive first-hand feedback, win prizes and network with the organizational representatives. In addition to catering (including a networking lunch), students can improve their pitching skills and diversity skills while strengthening their teamwork skills in various group constellations. The hackathon will be held in English.

How to Allyship - In Solidarity Against Discrimination
Interactive lecture for all university members
May 19 6-8 pm in the IBZ
We are very pleased to have Dr. Rahab Njeri as a historian and expert on racism criticism, decolonial and intersectional theories, empowerment and critical allyship for an interactive lecture on May 19, 2026. This year's focus is on the topic of allyship and a solidary space for dialog, learning and institutional change. The lecture will be held in English. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to chat with her and other participants over drinks and snacks. No registration is required.
The lecture will be held in English and will be subtitled in English and German.
