Toilets
TU Dortmund University has developed a concept for gender-neutral single-occupancy restroom facilities so that people who do not assign themselves to a binary gender or who are in a gender transition process can use the toilets without discrimination.
- New concept for single-occupancy restroom facilities
Initially, the gender designations will be removed from all individual toilets and a symbol for "sitting toilet" or "standing toilet" will be added. In new construction projects, both single toilets are planned and multiple toilet facilities are built in such a way that the cubicles are accessible without having to pass through the standing toilets. In this way, the as yet unadapted Workplace Ordinance can be complied with and future reclassification made possible.
Further information:
In an interview on 18 July 2019, Dr. Ute Zimmermann reported in the UA Ruhr student newspaper "Kurt" on how the toilet issue is being dealt with at TU Dortmund University.
