RIL Workshop Offering: Working Together with an Awareness of Bias: Understanding, Discussing, and Reducing Bias
- News

“Bias” refers to the range of common errors that occur when processing information and evaluating other people. These effects can lead to poor decision-making and discrimination against groups or individuals. In the workplace, bias can have undesirable consequences, such as in hiring, collaboration, or career development. That is why it is important that we recognize, discuss, and counteract bias. In this short workshop, you will receive an introduction to the underlying mechanisms. We will focus in particular on how stereotypes, prejudices, and certain group dynamics work. We will then discuss strategies for identifying, reflecting on, and reducing implicit bias and its effects. No prior knowledge is required.
